State Superbike Battle Resumes this Weekend

The battle for Tasmanian state superbike honours resumes this weekend with the penultimate round of the Tasmanian Motorcycle Club road race championship at Symmons Plains Raceway this Sunday.

Devonport’s Brad Wootton (North West Motorcycles Suzuki GSX-R1000) will be eyeing victory against nemesis Brett Symmonds (Yamaha R6), of Hobart, in the premier 600cc and unlimited category. Wootton trails Symmonds in the points chase however hopes to get the upper hand this weekend, while much improved Hobart rider Kenny Dunk (Yamaha R6) and Latrobe veteran James Abey (Honda CBR600RR) will also be looking for a slice of the action at the front.

Wootton meanwhile will also use the competition to fine tune his machine and get race miles under the belt, prior to travelling to Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria to resume national competition at round 2 of the Australian Formula Xtreme superbike series the following weekend. He currently lies 12th overall in the points chase after some solid results at Wakefield Park Raceway, near Goulburn NSW, in round 1.

Racing at Symmons Plains this weekend will start at 10am, with the Tasmanian Motorcycle Club holding a ride clinic day on Saturday, and also limited ride day group sessions at Sunday’s race day.

Gates open at 8.00am daily with free entry for spectators, including admission to the pit and garage areas.
